About Us
I started coaching YAFL Cheer at the age of 19, and coached alone until I met my other half, Nicole. We have been coaching together for four years and have led our girls to four gold medals. I have been dancing, cheering, and tumbling since I was three and did not stop until I graduated from high school. I went straight into coaching and have loved every minute of it. On top of coaching YAFL, I was an assistant coach at Sandia High School for three years. My coaching style is hard work first, reward later. I am a strict coach and expect a lot from our kids. The girls not only learn the sport of cheerleading but they become stronger, more confident, young women. It's an incredible feeling to help build a child's character. I received two bachelor's degrees- in Public Relations and Family Studies- from the University of New Mexico and am now learning the tricks of the trade running my own business. It's a dream come true to be starting down this road and I am blessed to have Nicole as my partner!
I thought after high school I was done performing and cheering. When my daughter decided she wanted to try cheerleading, I found myself coaching a YAFL cheer squad. Luckily I began this endeavor with Kasey Bigsby. Little did I know that she would not only become part of the family, but eventually my business partner. We found great success coaching the La Cueva West Bear Cheerleaders. The rewards far surpassed the amount of time we put in. We discovered that teaching cheerleading led the girls to greater confidence, a strong work ethic, moral character and physical fitness. The icing on the cake was winning four straight Young America Cheerleading Championships. After our Varsity year with YAFL/YAC, Kasey and I decided to continue our partership with a cheer school. Our goal is to continue to teach girls and young women about their own strength and character through the sport of cheerleading.
I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration from UNM's Anderson School of Management. I married my college sweetheart, Scott, and we have two beautiful cheerleaders of our own, Courtney and Kelsey. I am enjoying living out my dream of owning my own business in an industry that is so exciting and fun. Thank you for the opportunity to coach your child.
Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Royal Cheer Academy, LLC, provides cheerleading and tumbling training to adolescent and teenage girls, instilling discipline, teamwork, and confidence while teaching each girl performance skills and cheer techniques.
